Actors represent specific characters drawn from anime and other forms of popular art in Japan.

In Cosplay, any entity from the real or virtual world that lends itself to dramatic interpretation may be taken up as a character.

An obvious question to those who may not be familiar with the Cosplay concept, is why?

Cosplay enthusiast Amanda came to the 666 studios dressed as Princes Sakura from the Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles and explained to Alex Sloan:

“It’s just a way of expressing what I like, and I like making clothes and I like all of the characters who I Cosplay” she said.

“I thought she was a very inspiring character” said fellow Cosplayer Fiona, who came dressed as Dawn from the Pokemon series, adding “it’s also a cute costume!”

Those people attracted to the world of Cosplay are happy to be labelled geeks.

“I see it as meaning we’re smart, individualistic” says Helen, who came as Robin from the Batman and Robin comics, “and also having something that we are passionate about, because the term otaku in Japanese actually means that you’re really into something”.
